I'm a Naples, Florida-based artist specializing in contemporary portraiture that explores expression, emotion and the individuality of the people I paint.

My involvement in art began long before moving to Naples. While living in New Jersey, I exhibited in local and regional shows and worked across a range of subjects and styles, including landscapes, still lifes, abstracts and portraits.

Since moving to Naples, my work has increasingly centered on the human figure and face. Rather than traditional portraiture, I'm interested in creating paintings that suggest something beyond a likeness — a mood, a moment, a personality or a story.

My recent work has been exhibited in Naples and Collier County shows and competitions and is held in private collections.

My Philosophy of Portrait Art

I believe every face has a story to tell. My goal isn't simply to capture a likeness, but to find something beneath the surface — an emotion, a moment, a sense of who that person might be.

I also believe a painting is never truly finished and that there are no mistakes — only unexpected directions. Some of the most interesting things that happen on a canvas begin with something I hadn't planned.

Painting is a solitary endeavor, and ultimately I have to be satisfied with the work. I value the reactions of others, but the experience of putting paint to canvas — experimenting, changing direction and sometimes  letting the painting take over — are what keep me painting.
